The diversity of plant and animal life in De Hoge Veluwe is truly impressive. The Park is home to nearly 100 species of summer birds, six species of amphibians and many different species of mushrooms. Exceptional examples of lichen, moss, butterflies and insects can also be found. With a bit of luck, you might even catch a glimpse of a red deer or an Alcon blue during your visit.

About the Park

De Hoge Veluwe National Park is a unique natural environment that covers 5,400 hectares. It is the Netherlands’ largest actively managed nature reserve in private ownership. The Park aims to achieve the greatest possible biodiversity and a healthy balance between ecology and economy. De Hoge Veluwe operates independently and is largely (88%) independent of public subsidies. To sustain its independent operations, it largely depends on paying visitors. As a visitor to the Park and Restaurant De Hoge Veluwe, you therefore make a valuable contribution to the management and preservation of De Hoge Veluwe National Park.
